WORKSHOP POLICY
EVENTS & WORKSHOPS Workshops are a wonderful opportunity to deepen your yoga practice. They are not necessarily more challenging than regular classes. Rather more time is taken — with detailed instruction — to focus on a particular aspect of the practice.

Debbie Steingesser & Live Music by Rhythm Village
An ecstatic blend of Vinyasa Yoga, West African Dance, Kirtan, and Live West African Percussion, Afro Flow Yoga explores the relationship between the wild, passionate, joy of traditional West African Dance and Hatha Yoga. Through basic dance movements, deep yoga stretches, chanting, breath work, and meditation you will discover the natural rhythms of your individual body, mind, and spirit. In West African culture, Music and Dance serve as “sadhana,” or spiritual rituals for communities to come together in celebration. The traditional dances do not focus on performance or technique. They emphasize a union with self and spirit. Both West African Dance and Hatha Yoga are informed by the balancing of solar and lunar energy, steadiness and lightness, grounding and rising, heating and cooling. As you begin to unite these elements within you, you will feel joyful, calm, ecstatic and peaceful. Debbie's workshops are always open to all levels. No dance experience necessary!
Debbie’s inspired Vinyasa classes are an uplifting blend of playful sequencing, eclectic (often live) music, breathing techniques, humor, yoga philosophy, and kirtan. In her teaching, she expresses an infectious sense of enthusiasm, warmth, and positive energy. “Afro Flow Yoga,” which Debbie teaches at local and national workshops, festivals, and conferences, is her unique combination of Vinyasa Yoga, Traditional West African Dance, Kirtan, and Live African Percussion. *Payments are non-refundable. Cancellations must be received within 72 hours prior to workshop for yoga class credit (minus $10 processing fee). Sign-up Online!

Each of us holds the gift of healing in our touch. It is true that we often neglect this aspect of our experience, preferring to spend time in planning, analyzing, judging, figuring out, etc. In this workshop, you will be invited to observe the powerful Yin and Yang forces working in your body=mind=heart and to allow the healer in you to manifest more fully, through intention and partner-yoga exercises. You will work with a practice partner to explore how to both give and receive support through the physical practice of partner-supported asana and Thai Yoga Massage. Thai Yoga Massage is sometimes referred to as “lazy man’s yoga”, because the recipient is moved through yoga-like poses to mobilize the joints and stretch the muscles. You will find ways to release into poses with ease, while still achieving a fuller expression of each pose with your partner's help. No experience is required. Domonick will provide clear, easy-to-follow directions to create a safe environment for your exploration. You may bring a practice partner with you, or meet one at the workshop. You will leave the workshop feeling the bliss of having had a great yoga practice as well as a great massage. Sign-up Online! |
